Hazelwood heads into Sydney with points lead
Despite not racing since July, the 21-year-old has kept busy, including his debut in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship and test days with both Matt Stone Racing and Brad Jones Racing.
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, the team and I at Matt Stone Racing have been working super hard behind the scenes in preparing to achieve the ultimate result,” Hazelwood said.
“Since our last Super2 round in Townsville I have been super busy making my Supercars Championship debut at Queensland Raceway, testing with Brad Jones Racing at Winton, racing a BMW production car and racing go-karts … definitely more than ready to get the most out of myself!
“This track is both super technical from both a drivers’ perspective and chassis setup.”
This weekend Super2 will return to a four-race sprint format, which includes one qualifying session and a single practice.
“We only have one 40-minute practice session before qualifying, so we have to ensure we maximise that session as best as we can,” Hazelwood said.
“I’d also like to send a special thank you to the team at Matt Stone Racing and all of my amazing partners at Bigmate Racing for making this weekend possible.”
This weekend’s Dunlop Super2 Series round is part of the Red Rooster Sydney SuperSprint, held at Sydney Motorsport Park on 18-20 August.
